100 years of working together

United Way of Buffalo & Erie County is celebrating our centennial and we want to share our history with you.

Monday, October 30th is United Way Day in Erie County!  On October 30, 1917, three separate Buffalo charities came together to raise over $150,000 in one week to help those in need in our community. 100 years later United Way of Buffalo & Erie County continues to work together to make our home the best place to live.

Learn why the United Way was founded in 1917 and some of our biggest accomplishments over the past 100 years by watching "Living United: Celebrating 100 Years of the United Way" below.

We also broke the video into four parts for more convenient viewing. These can be found at the bottom of the page.

How Do you live united?

LIVE UNITED is more than just giving during your workplace giving campaigns. It is about standing up and becoming an Advocate about the issues that matter most. It is about rolling up your sleeves and Volunteering at agencies that need your help.

Everyone can make a difference. That is what LIVE UNITED means to us. Tell us how you Live United below for a chance to be featured on our website and social media.
