Day of Caring Project Support Specialist Job Description:

As a Day of Caring Project Support Specialist, you will be the primary quality assurance representative for Day of Caring — an ad-hoc consultant representing United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, working between participating host agencies and United Way. Your help will ensure best-in-class projects for all volunteers during the Day of Caring.

Responsibilities:

Prior to Day of Caring, Project Support Specialists will:

  • Attend a one-hour Day of Caring Project Support Specialist Training Session to be briefed on your responsibilities. (Virtual training scheduled for March 6, 2023.)
  • Contact assigned agencies to review project(s) information and conduct site visits.
  • Relay information and updates back to United Way of Buffalo & Erie County.

Day of Caring Project Support Specialists will be assigned approximately five (5) agencies between the months of March and June to contact and/or visit prior to the Day of Caring. Project Support Specialists are expected to assess project preparedness for registered projects and/or work with non-registered agencies to create a project.

While visiting, the specialist will be assessing:

  • the scope of the requested project.
  • potential for expansion of the project.
  • number of volunteers and supplies needed to successfully execute the project.

The goal:

At the end of the assessment, the project(s) will be as rich and full of an experience as the agency is able to successfully accommodate.

Project Support Specialists should be prepared to operate with sensitivity to the special needs of agency clients and interaction of volunteers and clients.
